Making a difference for local charity Priscilla Bacon Hospice

As a steadfast member of the Norwich community for the past 60 years, Lamberts have certainly made its mark. We like to think our customers have built a rapport over the years with us as a trustworthy and reliable business, led by people with strong community values.

Charity initiatives have always been an important part of this because we take giving back to local good causes really seriously. Lamberts regularly get involved with fundraising for good causes – from hosting coffee mornings to taking part in fundraising events.

Lamberts Charity of the Year – Priscilla Bacon Hospice

Having donated to a range of charities over the years on an informal basis, this year we have decided to nominate a certain charity on which to focus our fundraising efforts.

Priscilla Bacon Hospice is a charity set up to fundraise for and build the new hospice on a site near the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The original Priscilla Bacon Lodge was built over 40 years ago to bring peace, dignity and vital support to thousands of families across Norfolk.

Priscilla Bacon Hospice 500 Club

Lamberts MD Trina Beare recently visited the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Centre in Drayton, Norwich to meet Amy Bramble, the Community, Fundraising and Marketing Manager for Priscilla Bacon Hospice, to find out more about the initiatives of the 500 Club scheme and how it works.

The aim of the 500 Club is to create a community around the new hospice and to help raise the final £1 million needed to complete the building as well as funds to support the running of that space, as well as getting the business community involved in the service provision that Priscilla Bacon Hospice offers.

The community aspect of this group of businesses means that they can support each other whilst also supporting the hospice. The benefits of joining the 500 Club are:

  • Four social events per year for 500 Club members

  • Access to social media groups to connect with other members to offer promotions, share fundraising ideas, support and progress

  • Bespoke team building and volunteering opportunities

  • Account management and fundraising support from the PBH team

  • Fundraising materials, such as balloons, buckets and banners

  • Sponsorship and marketing opportunities

  • Opportunities to partner with other 500 Club members for fundraising projects

  • A monthly newsletter to celebrate the successes of members, as well as offering ideas and invitations to fundraising events

In return, the 500 Club members pledge to raise a certain amount over the course of a year depending on their membership type – either £10,000, £5,000, £1,000 or £500.

Why did Lamberts choose Priscilla Bacon Hospice

Priscilla Bacon has touched a lot of people in the local community, with some of our own staff at Lamberts using their services in the past. We felt that being a local charity the staff would be engaged and get involved with the fundraising. Each department within Lamberts has been set a challenge to come up with a fundraising event. With the spirit of the team at Lamberts we hope to smash our fundraising target – so watch this space!
